fun or not, pirates are still the baddies

Talk nerdy to me.

I was talking with a coworker today and it occurred to me that I am a nerd. Not just a little bit nerdy. A serious hard-kore nerd… I started thinking about my “accomplishments” and thought I would go ahead and put together a list. If you know me and can think of something I have left off… please feel free to let me know.

  • Three full shelves of role playing books
  • Own books for more than three role playing systems

  • Used Firefox before it was called Firefox (Firebird anyone?)
  • Used IRC to download mp3s

That seems like a pretty good start for now. I might have to update this when I think of more things.

    Understand the hierarchy of the band world in that you think brass are superior to woodwinds and trumpets are the best instrument in the band. Percussionist are quirky.

    Attended–and enjoyed–many a band camp.

    Have taught your daughter that dice are called twenties.

    Prefer PC to Mac. While having a computer preference is geeky in itself, you don’t buy into the Mac-user belief that Mac is superior to PC.

    Didn’t just memorize the math/science/physics/computer science stuff for the tests in school. Actually understand/enjoy/value/use that stuff in your real life.

    Is it ultimate geek to let your mom post comments on your blog?

    It was Mozilla… and I downloaded the source code the first day it was available… to compile it on an Ultrix machine :)

    @Chris Sorta… http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mozilla_Firefox#History

    Sure, it was based on Mozilla (and probably stole… errr… obtained most of its base source code on it). But Firebird/fox was designed to be separate from the start.
