Free Food
I don’t know that anyone reads my blog enough for this to really matter, but today is free taco day.
I think Taco Bell is smart for doing this. Suppose everyone in the United States shows up for tacos. That’s some 300 million tacos free (at 79 cents a taco, that’s just less than 300 million bucks). Since we are already making big assumptions, assume that half of the people buy a soft-drink to compliment their free taco. Soft-drinks are practically pure profit for companies like these (as opposed to the taco which contains probably 25 or 30 cents of materials). All of those dollar drinks will easily cover the cost of the tacos.
It gets even better when you consider how small a 79 cent taco is. I am not a big guy, but I know that one of those won’t even come close to filling me up. So now, not only are people buying a cool soft-drink, but they are buying a steak burrito to fill up their bellies.

So I just got back after getting my free taco. It was everything I expected a free taco to be. Meh. And just because I am a sucker, I also picked up another burrito and chulupa (or however you spell that). Another $3.50 to further fill the wallets of the TacoBell Execs… Oh well, my stomach is full.
