My Dentist
I went to the dentist yesterday. I can’t recall ever going to the dentist and really feeling pain. Yesterday I felt pain.
The gal who cleaned my teeth was ruthless. I don’t know what sort of sadistic tools she employed, but I am certain that by the time she had finished my gums were bleeding profusely. I can’t blame her solely though, I am the true culprit.
I am well aware that my brushing and flossing habits are substandard (at best). I do fairly well in the weeks following my trips to their office, but before long I slip into my old habits. I suppose that I could vow this time to keep at it, but that’s only going to work so long. Although, after yesterday’s “session” the memory of stabbing, pointy, merciless pain might keep the memory fresher…. longer.
This post has another, more humorous part to it. Oddly enough it also involves my dentist’s office. My wife had her appointment the day before mine. In the afternoon after her appointment, we were heading off to work. I noticed that there was a large envelope with my name on it. She said that it had come from the dental office. I open it to find a thank you note and a box of something.
The note thanked me for referring one of my coworkers. I opened the box to find… Candy. Yes, candy. My dentist’s office rewards me (for increasing their revenue I suppose) with the very thing that will ensure that I patronize them for years to come. Oh well, I’ll enjoy it.
(for those of you complaining about me not posting enough… too bad. I’ll post when I feel like it. Take that)
